Fred (Polk City, FL) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase This review is from: All-Bran Cereal, Original, 18.3-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 5) (Grocery) I guess that's a pun of some kind. Anyway, about 30 years ago I went to a lecture about colon cancer at the company health club, and decided that wasn't for me. The MD presenting said an easy way to avoid it was to eat All-Bran for breakfast, and since then I've only missed maybe 10 days. All-Bran is hard to find in supermarkets, almost impossible to find in restaurants, so the subscription is very convenient. It may taste like cardboard (vanilla flavored almond milk helps), but it does the job, and my colonoscopies are consistently boring.Update 4/12/15: This is no longer available in my area, and was a product of Mexico when last purchsed -- even the box was of poor quality. And, as others have noted, it's wicked expensive and possibly contaminated and of lesser quality these days when ordered online. I have complained regularly, both in my local stores ("sorry, we can't get it"), and to Kellogs ("we've changed manufacturers, should be available soon")... Suddenly it has become almost impossible to find in grocery stores, so I ended up purchasing it online. Everyone in my household is a dedicated label reader so it wasn't long before my son discovered that the box stated "Product of Mexico" ! Since we routinely check labels I am certain this is a new development, and most likely only an issue with online purchases (where you can't check the label...) I am returning the boxes and will not purchase cereal online again. We will either find the product in local stores, or find an alternative high-fiber cereal. We prefer our food to be USA produced. 6 of 7 people found the following review helpful This review is from: All-Bran Cereal, Original, 18.3-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 5) (Grocery) Kellogg's All-Bran is one of the healthier cereals on the market.I reached this conclusion after I skimmed the entirety of my local Meijer's cereal aisle. There are many cereals that claim to be healthy choices, but what I was looking for was a good ratio of protein and fiber to carbohydrates. All-Bran fits my criteria of what a healthy cereal should be. A serving (half-cup) constitutes just 23 grams of carbs and yet it packs in 10 grams of fiber and another 4 grams of protein. When you take into consideration the half-cup of milk to be added to it, and also the slew of vitamins from both the cereal and the milk itself, you'll find that you have a terrific start to your nutritious day. It tastes pretty darn good. For having just six grams of sugar, I'm surprised by how much I crave it at times. It's actually a treat that you can enjoy when you're craving something sweet. Or at least it will satisfy you enough to halt your craving for something more... Read more |

Fill Up on Fiber
The studies are clear--fiber can help promote weight loss and healthier eating patterns, while increasing overall health:
- Fiber takes longer to chew and slows down the rate at which we eat--giving our bodies a chance to let us know when we are full.
- With fewer calories and greater bulk, high-fiber foods help us feel fuller for longer.
- Fiber helps keep the digestive tract clean and healthy decreasing risk of intestinal disease.
- Fiber-rich diets can help lower 'bad' cholesterol, lower blood pressure, and help control blood sugar levels.
